VALENTINE'S DAY SUNDAY-Feb. 10 2019
Father George linked Jesus's love for all with a homily reminding us that
Valentine's Day is a reminder to appreciate family and friends as much as a
special someone.and we all got treats!

EPISCOPAL CHURCH WOMEN- Feb 4 2019
Barbara Abbott hosted an ECW gathering to begin planning this year's program
priorities. Besides great food and fellowship, Margaret Nolde taught us how
to use Realm, the church's new CRM software. The database will be used to
create a new directory, send out group emails, and provide online sign-ups
for our events.

SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY- Feb 3 2019
Our Goal is to End Hunger in Costa Mesa! Donations totaling  $394 were
collected by GFS and donated to a local food pantry.  Donors received a bag
with beans, spices and directions for making their own chili.

ANNUAL MEETING-January 27th 2019
Fifty four members attended our Annual General Meeting. A detailed written
report of 2018 activities and financial information was distributed and
reviewed and Father George shared his plans and priorities for 2019.
Special acknowledgements were bestowed on Nina Marshall and Alex Jacobs who
retired after five long years as our Wardens.  Those in attendance elected
Bob Abbott, Tim Marshall, and Tim Sesler, to join current Vestry members
Virgil Nolde, Brian Summerfield, Sharon Boles, Betsy Densmore, Chery Hyon,
and Emmy Lou Swanson.

CHRISTMAS EVE WITH CAROLS / FAMILY SERVICE- Dec 24 2018
With our church beautifully decorated, we sang all our favorite carols and
joyously celebrated the birth of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.

CHILDREN'S PAGEANT- Dec 16 2018
WOW! Our Children's Pageant was Fantastic! What a joy to witness Miss Tess
guide and teach all the children during the weeks of preparation. Our hearts
were filled with love and joy of the news of Jesus' birth! Special
appreciation to all of the parents, grandparents, and other adults that made
sure to bring your children in order to help tell the story of Jesus's
birth!

Operation Shoebox- Dec 9 2018
For the past 18 years, St John the Divine has provided shoeboxes of gifts
for children in the local community at Christmas time. On December 9,
members filled nearly 200 shoeboxes with toys, school supplies and personal
items such as hats, socks and grooming items for children ages 0 to 18.  The
boxes were distributed by the Lighthouse Costa Mesa Church of the Nazarene
to motel families, homeless, and working poor in Costa Mesa.

St. John the Divine Plans Holiday Outreach & Welcomes New Rector

On December 9th, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church will hold its annual “Operation Shoe Box”, during which hundreds of shoe boxes will be filled with small toys and personal items for underserved children. Their Girls Friendly Society youth group hosts the event, packing boxes for children from 3 to 18.  Donations of shoe boxes and gifts such as socks, grooming items or school supplies can be dropped off at the church office throughout the week.

Rev. George Okusi was officially installed as Rector at in November. A special service and welcome dinner took place on November 10th with nearly 200 people in attendance.  The parish is thriving and recently invested in new heating, air conditioning and other building improvements.  For more information, visit their website, https://www.stjohncm.org  or their campus at 183 Bay Street in Costa Mesa.

All are welcome to assist with Operation Shoebox on Sunday December 9th after the 9 am service.
