National Day of Prayer Thursday, May 2, 2019.Services will be held by Trellis at Heroes Hall at the OC Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. First service 6-7:15pm. Second service 7:30-8:45pm. More information at https://wearetrellis.com/events/national-day-of-prayer/ 

Love Costa Mesa Day is Saturday May 18, 2019. Register NOW at lovecostamesa.org/projects. St. John's project (Share Our Selves Vegetable Garden) is to build and plant 10, 2’x4’ raised planters with vegetables, but feel free to sign up for whichever project speaks to your heart. Check-in on 5/18 begins at 7:30am in the parking lot of Newport Mesa Church, 2599 Newport Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. There will be free “Love Costa Mesa” t-shirts for early arrivers and free coffee and snacks for all attendees. Music and celebrations until 8:30am. Then meet with your project crew and leave for your project site at 9am. Free lunch (not required) following projects back at Newport Mesa Church at 12noon. GFS Dates: Saturday May 18 - Anniversary and Awards Service at 10:30 am to 1 pm - the whole congregation is asked to come and support the girls who are receiving honors. Also coming up: June 9 - Branch awards at the 10 am service, June 22 - Pool party at the bishop's home - 11-3; September 6-8 - GFS Camp in Wrightwood for girls 8 and up.


GFS will be participating in Love Costa Mesa day on May 18th as part of the Anniversary Celebration. We are going to make toys and items for the dogs and cats at Priceless Pets, the Costa Mesa pet shelter.


We would appreciate donations you have of:

Toilet Paper Tubes for cat toy project, Fleece fabric for small pet blankets, Cotton fabric for neck scarves, White tube socks for dog toy project, Used tennis balls for dog toy project

Treasurer – Please contact Betsy our Treasurer, before you do anything concerning purchases or commitment.


10am Coffee Hour – We are humbly requesting our 10 o’clock members to sign up to help with coffee hour on Sundays. We need at least two people each Sunday to prepare and to help clean.


Love Offering Box - We shall have one in the GuildHall during Coffee Hour. Please support theprogram.


Rector’s Vacation in May – While Fr. George will be away – Fr. Bob Burton (623) 806 – 4901 (May5th, 19th and 26th) – and Fr. Abel Lopez (626) 993 – 8585 (May 12th) – will take care of Sunday Services at 8am / 10am, including any pastoral emergencies.


Fill the Pantry! – Let’s “Fill the Pantry” for SOS! For May – Any canned item, rice and pasta mixes, pasta sauce, tuna/canned meats and cereals. Contact Cindy at (949) 548-4712.


Volunteers Needed - Volunteer for both church services as a reader, chalice bearer, acolyte, usher or Nursery. Sign-up sheets in the Guild Hall or contact Dale 714. 536-7992 for Rite I and Sharon949.290.2693 for Rite II.

Prayer Requests – Prayer requests may be noted on the Prayers of the People sheet as you enter church. These prayers will be petitioned in services. Confidential prayers may be submitted to any Daughters of the King member or e-mailed to Nina Marshall at nmmarsh@hotmail.com.                 


5th Sundays of the month - for the year 2019 will be combined services at 9am. June 30thSeptember 29thDecember 29th.


Flowers - What a beautiful way to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or thanksgiving. A $30 suggested donation covers all Sunday’s altar flowers. Contact Emmy Lou Swanson for details.

Cans and Bottles - Members are encouraged to bring in their cans and bottles for recycling.
