Announcements for March 2008 For Diocesan news, visit The Episcopal News. For National news, visit the Episcopal News Service. For Worldwide news, visit the Anglican Communion News Service. We are a family of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ who are seeking and doing God’s will, by meeting the spiritual and social needs of our members and neighbors in the Episcopal tradition. |
Every person baptized with water in the name of God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is a member of Christ’s one universal Church. If you have been so baptized anywhere, at any time, by anyone, you are a full member of Christ’s Church and are invited to partake of Holy Communion with us. Membership in the Episcopal Church is ratified when people make a mature public affirmation of their faith and commitment to the responsibilities of their Baptism in the rite of Confirmation. Confirmation is celebrated by the Bishop. People who have been confirmed by a Bishop in another communion are received into the Episcopal Church by our Bishop. If you are or have been a member of another Episcopal Church, your membership can easily be transferred to St. John the Divine. If you are a new Episcopalian, we would be happy to acquaint you with our history and beliefs. Please feel free to speak to the Rector about membership in our congregation. Communicants of the Episcopal Church are members of any age who receive Holy Communion at least three times a year. Adult Communicants in Good Standing are those who have been faithful in corporate worship and in working, praying and giving for the spread of the Kingdom of God. |
